Offa's Dyke 24 Hour Challenge

Saturday 9th April 2011

In order to raise money for our groups new headquarters, two leaders set out on a very challenging sponsored event. The intention was to cover as many miles as possible of the Offa’s Dyke path in a continuous 24 hour period. The two leaders involved were Robert Benyon and Geoff Brown.

The walk started at 9pm from Prestatyn in the dark. Covering the first nine hours in complete darkness. The challenge was extremely hard, with a distance of 40 miles eventually covered. Finding path markings in the dark was extremely challenging, as were climbing stiles in the later stages of the walk. Over 3000 metres was climbed in the walk, and eventually the walk was completed in Pentre near Chirk.

Overall a big challenge, and a fantastic achievement!
